Annual MTM Members Meeting

The Annual MTM Members’ Meeting is held each October. Normally, 150 MTM members attend this event. The last few years, we’ve enjoyed the beautiful facility/room and a great buffet of beef, seafood, and vegetarian meals at The Inn at St. John’s. If the main courses did not fill you, the variety of salads and desserts did.

We’ve always had an interesting speaker as part of the two-hour program. A couple of smaller parts of the program are Chris Doebler, the MTM CFO, and I do a five-minute update on the results of the year to date and first look at the annual member dividend. At the end of the meeting, we have a wide variety of gifts that are drawn at random and given to our members. The MTM Chairman of the Board, Jack Accardo, presides over the member gift giving.

This annual event requires a great deal of staff work. Megan Brown, VP of Sales and Marketing, and Patty Allen, Sales and Marketing Leader have a full list of must-do’s, contacts, and required assignments. It is a very complicated meeting. MTM staff knows that we only have one time a year to be in front of a group of MTM members and we leave nothing to chance.

With that said, it is sad news that I must report that we have cancelled the October 2020 annual members’ meeting. The situation was reviewed at the August MTM Board Meeting for their input and ultimately their concurrence. With the current government orders, we would be allowed only 10 people per meeting room. We would be required to wear masks. We would need to be socially distanced and have precooked meals rather than a shared buffet, i.e., it sounds like a convention chicken meal to me. None of these requirements fit the MTM Annual Members Meeting. I think of our annual meeting as more of a family reunion. There are many old friends seeing each other, lots of talk, handshakes, and hugs. None of that could happen with the government requirements this year.

So the good news, the MTM marketing department is already planning steps to give you our speaker and dividend updates. Like you do and we do, we adjust to the current situation and get the job accomplished. You will be hearing more about this in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we are already planning Thursday, October 21st for the 2021 Annual Members’ Meeting.
